🚀 Meet Mila and Maja, sisters who recently won third place at the competition for “Best Technological Innovation”!

Mila is a software engineering student. During high school, she heard many positive stories, which led her to choose this field at the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad. 🎓

She emphasizes that software engineering offers numerous opportunities for practical work and career development, and being a tech girl is particularly appealing due to flexible working hours and locations. 👩‍💻

Maja, on the other hand, has an interesting combination of interests. In addition to being a member of Petnica, she also completed music school. 👩‍🔬 🎼

Her passion for music and scientific work has allowed her to gain a deeper understanding of the connections between music, mathematics, and programming. Maja balances daily between playing music and programming, and she says she can’t imagine her life without both elements. 🌱

What is AlgoRythm 🎵?

Mila and Maja created AlgoRythm – a program for algorithmic music generation. It generates music in two genres, lofi and pop. 🎺

What sets it apart from other music generation software on the market is that it can generate music infinitely. There is no repetition, as it constantly creates variations on a theme, so the user doesn’t get bored while listening. 🤩

Another thing that makes AlgoRythm unique is that it doesn’t only generate the main melody but also the background, which gives a fuller experience.

Maja told us that the idea for AlgoRythm came to her when she was trying to compose her own music while simultaneously applying to Petnica.

She had to come up with a project for her application and also compose a song. During this brainstorming process, she thought how great it would be to have a program that could compose music on its own and solve her struggles. 💡

The sisters said that their fondest memories come from presenting their project at the Rectorate in Belgrade and meeting other young people with great ideas, which further motivates them to keep working. 👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓

They also mentioned that they will always remember the process of developing the software and preparing for the competition, where the two of them, along with two friends who worked with them, had some unforgettable days that felt like a game and fun. 🎠
